The Wild Academy
The Wild Academy is the Curraghs Wildlife Park's very special summer school for children aged 7 to 11. Wild Academy students spend a whole week, learning and having fun in the wonderful environment of the Wildlife Park, surrounded by amazing animals! Our carefully planned curriculum has a mixture of structured learning activities, outdoor trails and games, crafts, animal experiences, and more!
We use the environment, animals and activities to explore the topic of animals, conservation of species and an understanding of our natural world. To inspire our young students with a love for these unique and threatened ecosystems. Perhaps we can even inspire the conservationists of the future!
Our three Wild Academy leaders (qualified teacher, teacher in training and a classroom assistant) are led by the Park's full time Education Manager and the Park's managers. We are very committed to ensuring that the Wild Academy is a brilliant week of fun and learning for the students. We have a ratio of one staff member to 5 children ensuring a quality learning and supportive enviroment for the week.
Each day includes at least one animal experience during which students may help to feed animals such as lemurs, Coatis and penguins. They will also have opportunities to handle reptiles and invertebrates.
Places are limited to 15 children per week so don't delay if you would like to enroll your child phone our secretary Carolyn Gillis (693573/ 897323) or email email@example.com to obtain a booking form. Your place is only secured upon full payment. (£163 members, £183 non-members)
Places are reserved for children who are able to attend the whole week; unfortunately it is not possible to do single days.
The short graduation ceremony is at 3:30 on the Friday of each week is a lovely occasion to which all parents, guardians and relatives are invited. Afterwards you are free to spend the rest of the afternoon in the Park.
